In 2021, DZNR Design Studio took on an ambitious project in Baia Mare, transforming a scenic lakeside area into a vibrant open-air leisure destination. The project, named Peninsula, was centered around an artificial lake teeming with fish, creating a natural retreat for visitors seeking relaxation and recreation.
At the heart of the design was a striking 12-meter dome, serving as the main structure of the resort. This architectural focal point was complemented by an extensive 500-square-meter natural wood deck, seamlessly blending with the surrounding landscape. To further enhance the beach-like experience, the project incorporated a 400-square-meter area covered in fine sand, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Peninsula quickly evolved into a summer resort, offering a unique blend of natural elements and thoughtful design. As part of its continued development, a wooden entrance structure was introduced to define the venue’s access point. This addition was designed to facilitate entry through two strategically placed containers, creating a smooth transition from the exterior into the resort’s serene environment.
The project was developed and managed by Mihnea Ghilduș, the founder of DZNR Design Studio, with the valuable support of Colin Noel. Their collaborative efforts ensured that Peninsula not only met aesthetic and functional expectations but also provided a sustainable and immersive experience for visitors. Through innovative design and meticulous planning, DZNR Design Studio successfully crafted a distinctive leisure destination that harmonized with its natural surroundings.
